The Lawrence Tree

The Lawrence Tree

Back from a quick weekend to the Land of Enchantment. Here are some photos... this first one was taken at D.H. Lawrence's ranch in San Cristobal. This is a pic of pine tree in front of the main cabin where Georgia O'Keefe first stayed when she visited NM –– the tree would later become the subject of a painting she would call "The Lawrence Tree."

Lawrence tomb

We hiked up to the Lawrence memorial/mausoleum and peeked inside Lawrence's tomb. Had a better view with the digital's zoom lens than with the naked eye.

DH Lawrence's tomb

A bunch of chile ristras hang from the lamp inside the tomb.

Ganesha shrine at Lama

We visited the Lama Foundation in San Cristobal where Kort does his summer tea retreats. It's a beautiful place, and the spiritual is palpable here. This is a pic of many of the different shrines we'd happen upon walking the grounds.

Entrance to Stupa

After walking around Lama, we made the drive to Questa to meet with Lama Chodrak who showed us their new stupa. The interior is handpainted with beautiful images of buddhas and dakinis by Cynthia Moku and her students, all the way from Naropa.

The Stupa at Questa

And here's another pic of the stupa up close which was stunning to say the least.
