I've decided to write about Joseph Cornell's box piece "A Pantry Ballet for Jacques Offenbach" for my commission for the Dallas Museum of Art. Listening now to Offenbach's opera Tales of Hoffman, a tale of a poet. Offenbach was known for writing light operas and for the Barcarolle (boat song) that appears in Hoffman. His opera Orpheus in the Underworld includes a legendary Can Can.
