My friend Ferenc has come and gone from Boston. Saw the new photographs/collage pieces that he has been working on for our sports project and was stunned. Laid images out on our coffee table - boy in boxing gear, head in football helmet, roller derby girl, figure in wrestling mask - began to notice the emergence of holes popping out of the images, a ear hole in boxing head gear, the opening in a football helmet, the holes thru which laces are threaded for a wrestling mask, the slightly open mouth of the roller derby girl - another orifice or opening.

New poems to write - on swimming, boxing, roller derby and on the notion of "passing" - making a pass from player to player in a game, but also the notion of passing in society - passing for straight, passing for white, etc. etc.

Put together a budget of what it costs for F to produce 15 photos (our end goal) and was slightly demoralized by the high cost - $5000 for 15 images! Argggh.
